Hydro One to Promote All Ages Energy Conservation at Owen Sound Fall Fair

OWEN SOUND, ON, Sept. 9 /CNW/ - Hydro One will bring its energy
conservation message to the Owen Sound Fall Fair, September 10 to 12. In a
special educational presentation for kindergarten to Grade 3 children and
their families on Friday, September 11, Hydro One representatives will talk
about simple ways to reduce energy use and save money - at home and at work.
Presentations will be held every half hour from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the
top floor of the Coliseum Arena.
"We have a suite of programs in support of promoting a conservation
culture in Ontario, that also help our customers reduce their electricity
costs," said Giuliana Rossini, Director of Strategy and Conservation Officer.
Since 2005, Hydro One customers across Ontario have achieved annual energy
savings of more than 400 million kilowatt-hours. That's enough electricity to
power approximately 35,000 homes for a year.
"Young people can also do their part in energy conservation," said
Rossini. "Getting youth involved can have an immediate effect on energy
consumption, and contribute to promoting energy efficient practices for the
future."
Attendees at the Hydro One presentation will hear tips on electrical
safety, and there will be games and prizes given out.
Hydro One will be providing information about popular programs like The
Great Refrigerator Roundup and peaksaver for homeowners, the Electricity
Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP) for mid-to-large businesses, and the Power
Savings Blitz for the small business owner. Representatives will be on-hand to
answer questions about Smart Meters and the new Time of Use (TOU) rates to be
implemented throughout the province next year.

Hydro One delivers electricity safely, reliably and responsibly to homes
and businesses across the province of Ontario and owns and operates Ontario's
29,000 km high-voltage transmission network that delivers electricity to large
industrial customers and municipal utilities, and a 122,000 km low-voltage
distribution system that serves about 1.3 million end-use customers and
smaller municipal utilities in the province. Hydro One is wholly owned by the
Province of Ontario.
