TORONTO, July 9, 2013 /CNW/ - Hydro One advises that approximately 300,000 people in the West GTA are without power as a result of significant flooding at its Richview and Manby Transmission Stations after heavy rains earlier today.

Although an approximate 30,000 to 40,000 people have already been restored, Hydro One crews are on-site, making each station safe, assessing the impact of the flooding and developing  restoration plans.

As a significant amount of flooding is impacting the Company's ability to undertake restoration work, it is not yet clear how quickly power will be restored. Hydro One emergency crews will operate on a 24-7 basis until all power is restored.

At this time, the company's call centre is experiencing issues due to high call volumes.
