Hydro One Leading Electricity Education for Consumers with its Electricity Discovery Centre

TORONTO, Nov. 26, 2013 /CNW/ - Today Hydro One, along with Bob Chiarelli, Minister of Energy, officially launched a new customer education tool, the Electricity Discovery Centre.  The mobile centre features interactive exhibits on children's electrical safety, conservation and how the electricity system works.

Visitors can learn about Ontario's electricity sector, Hydro One's presence in communities, how to manage costs, distribution modernization and electrical safety.

"We serve communities across all of Ontario and it's important to us to be available for face-to-face conversations with our customers. The Electricity Discovery Centre will help us educate people about electrical safety, conservation and how we invest in our system to make sure we are able to deliver the safe, reliable and affordable electricity our customers count on today and will need tomorrow," said Carmine Marcello, President and CEO, Hydro One.

"Helping the public better understand Ontario's electricity system has never been more important. Hydro One's Electricity Discovery Centre will give Ontarians of all ages a hands-on opportunity to learn how the electricity system works and learn what they can do to better manage their electricity use," said Bob Chiarelli, Minister of Energy.

Hydro One tested the Electricity Discovery Centre with consumers at three fairs this fall and the feedback has been very positive with respondents stating that the experience improved their understanding of Ontario's electricity system, and of Hydro One.

Hydro One delivers electricity safely, reliably and responsibly to homes and businesses across the province of Ontario. Hydro One is wholly owned by the Province of Ontario.
