TORONTO, March 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Hydro One announced today that work has started to replace two transformers at the Cobden Transformer Station. The transformers have served the area for more than 60 years and are reaching end of life. The replacement of the two transformers will ensure the continued reliability for decades to come.
"The equipment being replaced has served Ontario well for more than six decades, but as stewards of the system, it is time to make this investment to ensure the continued safe, reliable supply of electricity that the people of Ontario count on Hydro One for," said Andrew Stenning, Vice President, Stations and Operating.
The station serves more than 8,300 Hydro One customers in the area. The replacement work is not expected to require any planned power outages to customers. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
