-Power restored to over 87,400 from peak of 112,000-
TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2015 /CNW/ - Hydro One confirms it has now restored power to more than 87,400 customers following yesterday's windstorm, which caused extensive damage to its distribution system across southwestern and central Ontario.
Approximately, 15,400 customers in the hardest hit areas will remain without power overnight.
"We are now entering the most difficult stage of our restoration efforts," said Jon Rebick, Vice President, Lines and Forestry, Hydro One. "We have over 1,000 staff working to restore power but advise that some customers will be without power again overnight. We thank customers for their patience."
Through mutual assistance agreements, Hydro One is receiving assistance from the following local distribution companies: Ottawa River Power, PowerStream, Canadian Niagara Power, Veridian Connections, Hydro One Brampton, Greater Sudbury Power, Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc., Toronto Hydro and Burlington Hydro.
At present, there are 242 incidents affecting over 24,500 customers. Areas with over 500 customers are listed below:
