TORONTO, March 8, 2018 /CNW/ - This International Women's Day, Hydro One has announced the renewal of its Women in Engineering University Partnership program as well as the recipients of the company's 2018 Women in Engineering Award.

Hydro One has renewed its four year commitment in the Women in Engineering University Partnership program by investing an additional $1.6 million in the program, which was established in 2013. The partnership with Ryerson University, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, University of Waterloo and Western University is now in its fifth year and provides networking opportunities and outreach programs that support young girls and women pursuing a career in the engineering field. To-date the program has supported over 18,000 students across all of the partnership's universities.
The company also announced the recipients of Hydro One's Women in Engineering Award. Established in 2014 these awards provide women with opportunities to develop satisfying and successful professional careers in the areas of engineering and other related fields. The 10 winners receive a financial award and a paid opportunity to work for Hydro One in a student placement that will allow them to further develop their skills.
