Hydro One recognizes the City of London for its excellence in energy conservation

London, ON, March 5, 2019 – Today, Hydro One recognized the City of London for excellence in energy conservation. Through the replacement of two pumps at the Elgin Middlesex Pump Station and Reservoir with more energy efficient models, the City is expected to save about $80,000 annually.

“Hydro One has many conservation programs to help our residential, business and municipal customers reduce their energy use and lower their costs,” said Imran Merali, Vice President, Customer Service, Hydro One. “As a customer-focused company, we help our municipal customers save on electricity so they can reinvest those savings into programs and services that matter to their communities.”

“With the support of Hydro One, the City of London is proud to have completed this project replacing our old pumps and motors.  Smart, energy-efficient equipment takes advantage of lower cost off-peak electricity,” said Mayor Ed Holder.  “Safe, clean, reliable and affordable drinking water matters to Londoners.”

This project was completed under the Save on Energy Retrofit Program, which provides businesses incentives to upgrade to more energy-efficient equipment. Hydro One can help its customers identify eligible energy-efficient upgrades to receive incentives and reduce overall energy costs.

The Elgin Middlesex Pump Station and Reservoir is located within Central Elgin. The reservoir consists of two cells, constructed in 1966 and 1993 and receives potable water from Elgin Area Water Treatment Plant via twinned water mains.
