TORONTO, June 18, 2019 – The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) presented Hydro One with a National Award of Excellence for its community and relationship management in support of critical forestry work in the Ottawa area throughout 2017 and 2018. 

"Hydro One believes in building relationships and working together with the communities that we serve,” said Jason Fitzsimmons, Chief Corporate Affairs and Customer Care Officer, Hydro One. “Engaging with our communities and customers is an important first step in completing critical forestry work that improves the safety and reliability of the transmission system. We are honored to be recognized by CPRS for our commitment to building meaningful relationships in communities.”

Through this approach, Hydro One ensured that community consultation met the needs of the community prior to the work starting. This approach is now used on every project and is an internal success story.

For over 55 years, the National Awards of Excellence recognizes outstanding public relations programs and projects from across the country and the dedication of public relations professionals. Submissions are judged by a panel of local CPRS members.
