TORONTO, Mar. 4 2025 - Hydro One Inc. (Hydro One) announced today there are two weeks left to apply for its 2025 Energizing Life Community Fund. Now in its fifth year, the fund provides $25,000 grants to charitable organizations, Indigenous communities and municipalities across Ontario that are working to enhance the quality of life in their local communities.

“We are proud to be a part of the communities where we work, live, and play. This means going beyond delivering electricity; we understand and respond to the needs and aspirations of the people who call these communities home,” said Bronwen Evans, Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Hydro One. “Our Energizing Life Community Fund recognizes that programs led by community groups play a crucial role in enhancing people’s wellbeing. We encourage charitable organizations, Indigenous communities and municipalities in Ontario to apply for the fund so together, we can build a better and brighter future for all.”

Since its launch in 2020, the Energizing Life Community Fund has made significant impacts across Ontario, supporting 117 organizations across more than 65 communities.

One 2024 grant recipient, Sudbury’s Kivi Park, expanded its Senior Health and Recreation Program (SHARP), providing a safe space for seniors aged 55 and older with opportunities to combat isolation and reconnect with their community.

"Senior isolation is a significant concern. We saw this program as the perfect opportunity to make a difference," said Jasmine Bureau, Park Coordinator, Kivi Park. "Our program fosters a sense of belonging that transcends age and ability, empowering seniors to step outside their comfort zones and embrace new challenges.”

"With these programs, I felt like somebody is really looking out for us. I don't feel like a senior. I feel like a teenager again," said Joanne, a retired nurse, and a participant of Kivi Park activities.

The fund welcomes applications from community groups, Indigenous communities and non-profit organizations, that align with Hydro One's goal to strengthen communities and improve lives across Ontario. Eligible organizations have until March 17, 2025, to apply at www.hydroone.com/energizinglife.
